Birth records are considered a vital record. They provide proof of one's birth. For the most part, they all contain the same information.
In most countries, a birth record usually contains most of the following information: a person's name at birth, sex, place of birth,
registration number, and legal parents. The certificate that is used as the birth record is issued shortly after a person is born.
Most countries require that a birth certificate is filed for each and every person born in their country.
Birth records are usually stored at government offices. Any person can, upon request, obtain a copy of their birth record.
Some countries, such as Canada and the United States, allow states to store a person's birth record. This vital information
may even be stored on more local levels, such as counties. Birth records in the UK are done a bit differently, as they are
permanently stored at a local registrar's office. The original copy is written in permanent ink, while copies are usually type-written.
Any person can obtain a copy of their own birth record. It is even possible for someone to request another person's birth records,
as long as they are willing to pay a fee. The main purpose of a person's birth records is to allow a person to authenticate their
identity and nationality. A birth record can also be used to help a person gain certain documents issued by the government, such
as a passport or driver's license. In the UK, however, a birth record in the form of a birth certificate is not always
enough to prove a person's identity. It merely serves as proof that the person's birth took place, and that the details of the birth
(location, time, and parents) are accurate.
Birth records make it much easier for a person to prove their citizenship in countries which use location of birth as a qualification
for gaining citizenship. A person's birth records provide proof that they were born in a certain country, thus allowing them to be considered
a citizen in that country. Birth records can also greatly help those who wish to keep track of their family's history. They provide a link
between generations that would otherwise be very difficult to substantiate.
Most registrar offices use at least two versions of birth records available. Long forms are photocopies of the original birth record that was prepared
by the hospital at the time of the child's birth. This version of a birth record will most likely include a child's parental information (address of
residence, race, birth place, date of birth, etc.), information on the child's birthplace, and information regarding the doctors that assisted in the
birth of the child. The short form of a person's birth records usually contain much less information.
Due to the fragmented nature of public records (such as birth records) between states and counties, many private companies have archived public records
into massive databases for search on the internet. Database records contain vital records such as, birth records, adoption records,
marriage records, divorce records, etc. These public records can be searched quickly and privately with results displayed on your computer screen in the comfort of your
home. All searches are 100% anonymous. Our service subscribes to the most comprehensive public records database providers available on the internet.
